The transportation of reinforced concrete precast is an operation that requires attention and special care to ensure the safety of those involved and the integrity of the cargo. Labor Equipamentos Rodoviários, manufacturer of the exclusive Concrete Loader semi-trailer, has separated some tips for this type of operation.
WEIGHT OF LOAD: It is very important to check that the weight of the load of precast reinforced concrete is within the specifications of the semi-trailer and the current legislation. Excess weight can compromise the stability of the vehicle, increasing the risk of accidents. Having a semi-trailer where the center of gravity is close to the ground, such as the Concrete Loader, drastically reduces the risk of tipping over.
CARGO STOWAGE. Before starting the transportation of precast reinforced concrete, always check if the load is well accommodated, either on the Concrete Loader's trestle or on the semi-trailer of the conventional trailer. The load cannot move during transportation, which may cause instability and even tipping over. In the case of the Concrete Loader, manufactured by Labor Equipamentos, the semi-trailer also has hydraulic locking systems (hydro-pushes), which safely and practically press the load without damaging the parts, ensuring a safe locking.
CHECK TIRE PRESSURE. Tire pressure should be checked before starting transport of precast reinforced concrete with the semi-trailer. A tire with inadequate pressure can compromise the stability of the vehicle.
CHECK BRAKES. Before starting the transportation of precast concrete reinforced concrete, check that the brakes are working properly. They should be tested in a safe area before hitting the road, and having a vehicle that has ABS, EBS and WABCO systems will ensure safer transportation.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT. Always wear safety equipment during the transportation and handling of the precast concrete load. Don't forget safety belts, helmets, lumbar belts, safety goggles, and whatever else is necessary for the operation. The Concrete Loader Labor, for having an automated tying system through hydro-pushes, also helps in a relevant way with the safety of its collaborators during the process.
SAFE SPEED. Always maintain a safe speed appropriate for road and traffic conditions. Avoid sudden maneuvers and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
REGULAR INSPECTION. Before you hit the road, make a regular visual inspection to check that the load is well seated and secured, that the tires are in good condition, and that the brakes are working properly.
And never forget: follow the safety regulations and the traffic laws to ensure everyone's safety and cargo integrity!
